University or College?
In California, college usually refers to public community colleges which usually offer two year degrees. University typically refers to public or private institutions offering four year degrees, Master's degrees and Doctorate degrees. Public universities such as UCLA (and many private universities) offer guaranteed acceptance of course work from colleges, so students can attend college for the first two years of their degree, and then transfer to university for the last two years.
